Run Away With Me to Book Bar
What’s your go-to these days to escape? A good book or a good drink? I’ve got an event coming up where you can get both. I will be a featured author at the Local Author Happy Hour at Book Bar at 4280 Tennyson St. Denver, CO. from 5 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 11. You can come snag signed books, have a chat and enjoy half-priced drinks at this fantastic bookshop/coffee shop/wine bar/book heaven.
I need a break. You need a break. We all need a break right now. I know a glass of wine won’t solve anything, but…
The political landscape is such that we all need to find ways to cope. Some are healthier than others. Exercising is wonderful, for example. Today, I went for a very slow jog, came home and ate caramel-laced ice cream. It was lovely.
Some of my strategies for coping with the sad state of the world include:
2. Writing fiction
3. Writing poetry
4. Listening to music
5. Singing very badly while driving
6. Playing with my dog
7. Playing board games with my daughter, including Life, Sorry and Guess Who. (There’s a sad little metaphor in there somewhere.)
8. Reading books like the Hunger Games in Danish or anything by Paulo Coehlo
10. Eating chocolate
I also recommend reading legit news from actual newspapers online or in print rather than Facebook. It won’t make you feel any better, but at least you know it's real.
I know these are not very helpful tips and many of my friends are really struggling, so here’s a link to a useful article from the Anxiety and Depression Association of America at www.adaa.org/tips
I actually find hanging out with friends, is also pretty useful. So on that cheery note, come see me on Feb. 11 and we’ll have a good time, I promise.
